Wrapping Up ...

You have just completed your first Flash animation!  CONGRATULATIONS!!

You probably noticed that our BOAT animation contained only one Scene.  But what if we wanted to create an animation with more than one Scene and organize them in a way that one would play into the other, much like a short movie.

To create a new scene in an existing movie, simply choose Scene from the Window>Other Panels menu.  Click the button at the bottom of the dialogue window and you will notice that a new scene is added.  These scenes appear in numeric order; such that, Scene 1 is the first scene, Scene 2 is the second scene ... and so on.  Notice that a new scene is added into the Edit Scene button as well.

Publishing Your Work

To view your movie on the web you must first "publish" it using a format that is recognizable by most web browser.  Adobe Flash (.swf) is the the standard plug in for viewing animations over the web.  Flash allows us to publish our animations in the SWF format

To set general publish settings for a Flash document:

1

Choose File > Publish Settings.

2

In the Publish Settings dialog box, select the option for each file format you want to create.

The Flash SWF format is selected by default. The HTML format is also selected by default, because an HTML file is required to display a SWF file in a browser.

3

For Filename, choose one of the following options:

Select Use Default Names (the default setting).

Deselect Use Default Names and enter a new filename for each selected file format.

4

Click the corresponding tab for the format options you want to change. Specify publish settings for each format (Flash or HTML)

7

When you have finished setting options, do one of the following:

To generate all the specified files and close the dialog box, click Publish.

To save the settings with the FLA file and close the dialog box without publishing, click OK.

NOTE:
You can use Flash to create and publish your own ANIMATED GIF files.  Just select the "GIF image (.gif)" check box, then select the GIF tab.  Set the parameters you wish for the publishing of you gif image.  Follow the rest of the above steps for publishing.
